MARYIA ZARECHYNTSAVA

Master's student

Maria is a master’s student at Jagiellonian University, majoring in Molecular Biotechnology. One of her main research interests lies in genomic analysis. During her bachelor’s study, she had an internship training in genomic dataset analysis at the Laboratory of Microbial Genomics at Charles University in Prague where she studied mitotic defects in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. For her bachelor’s project, she investigated how Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-Induced Protein 1 (MCPIP-1) affects the expression level of the genes connected with lipid metabolism in skin. She believes that the experience gained through her training in the Azuma group, producing difficult-to-express proteins using engineered proteinaceous compartments, will greatly contribute to her future scientific adventures. Outside the lab, she spends her free time reading, drawing, and playing musical instruments.
