DR. YUSUKE AZUMA

Group Leader

Yusuke leads the research group that is developing protein cage-based technologies. He grew up in Japan and obtained his PhD in 2012 from Kyoto University under supervision of Prof. Shiroh Futaki, where he was trained in peptide chemistry. To expand his scientific skills and knowledge in intelligent protein design and directed evolution, he had a short internship and postdoc training at the University of Potsdam with Prof. Katja Arndt and at ETH Zurich with Prof. Donald Hilvert, respectively. In 2018, he joined the partner laboratory of Prof. Jonathan Heddle as an adiunkt, assistant professor, to acquire deep expertise in nanotechnology and to develop his own research career in artificial compartment design. All the while, his ever-long childhood dream is to become a professional baseball player or snowboard rider. You can find out more about him on research gate and orcid.
